Third Workshop

In this workshop i explored how many different ways i could represent and document one piece of paper. It was a rectanglular shaped piece with strips cut vertically down it. These where then folded to either side. I learned that when cutting paper into strips it as a whole becomes very flexible and can be manipulated alot easier and in more ways than a normal piece can. This helped me to create the images shown below with either a bit of pressure or different camera angles.

Demonstrating the flexible nature of the paper and the ability
it has to stand on its own when given structure

When pressure is applied to the top of the shape due to the nature of the
folding of the slits it becomes almost cylindrical in shape and opens up. This
allows us with the given angle to look through the structure created. The curves
represent an organic form and repetition occours throughout.

The full nature of the flexability can be seen here whereby a 3D shape
can be completely folded back on itself to create a circular structure.

Exploring different camera angles also allows us to view the
shape from different perspectives and in this case there is more
than one in the same image. The lightbox used also helps to
define and exaggerate the curves and folds in the paper to
maximum effect highlighting where they are and in what direction.
